Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and eligibility

You must be able to enter into a binding agreement under the laws of your country, or use PurrCal with the consent of a parent or guardian. The terms of the App Store or Google Play from which you downloaded PurrCal also apply to your use of the app.

2. Your licence to use PurrCal

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use PurrCal on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. This licence does not give you any ownership of PurrCal or its content.

3. In-app purchases

PurrCal is free to download, and every calendar feature and widget is free. The calico companion is included. The five other cat companions are optional one-time purchases, individually or as a pack, that unlock that companion's illustrations for as long as the app is available on your store account.

Purchases are made through Apple or Google under their terms. Prices are shown in your local currency in the store before you confirm, and may differ between countries and over time. Payment, receipts and refunds are handled by the store according to its policies; we cannot issue refunds directly.

Purchases are tied to the store account used to buy them. You can restore them in Settings on any device signed in to the same Apple or Google account. Purchases cannot be transferred between the App Store and Google Play, and they do not include your own countdown data, which lives only on your device.

4. Your content

The days you create in PurrCal, including their names and dates, belong to you. Your own days are stored on your device, and we hold no copy of them. You are responsible for keeping backups: PurrCal can export a backup file from Settings, and you decide where it is saved. Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover days of your own that are lost when a device is reset, replaced or lost.

5. Shared countdowns

Shared countdowns are an optional feature that lets up to eight people follow one day together. To use it you sign in with a Google account (or Apple account, where offered). You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in, and you must be old enough to hold that account.

Notes and photos you post to a shared countdown remain yours. By posting, you give us permission to store them and show them to the members of that group for as long as the post exists, which is what the feature needs in order to work. You must have the right to share anything you post, including photos of other people.

The owner of a group can remove posts and members and can disable invitation links. We may remove content or suspend a sign-in that breaks these terms or the law, and we may delete groups that have been inactive for a long time after telling their members. When you leave a group you choose whether your posts stay or are deleted; deleting a group deletes its content.

Shared countdowns depend on our server and third-party services. They may be unavailable at times, and we may change or discontinue the feature; if we do, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export or delete your content where practical.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent any part of PurrCal or its illustrations;
• reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code or assets of PurrCal, except where the law expressly allows it;
• circumvent or attempt to circumvent purchase verification;
• post to a shared countdown anything unlawful, abusive, hateful or sexual, anything that invades another person's privacy, or anything you do not have the right to share;
• use invitation links to join groups you were not invited to, or to disrupt a group;
• use PurrCal in any way that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others.

7. Intellectual property

PurrCal, its name, design, text and all kitten and scenario illustrations are owned by Maneko AI LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Apart from the licence above, no rights are granted to you. In particular, the illustrations may not be extracted, reproduced or used outside PurrCal.

8. Updates, changes and availability

We may update PurrCal, add or remove features, or stop offering it. Widgets, reminders and purchases depend on your device, operating system and store, and we cannot promise that they will always be available or work in the same way on every device. Reminders are scheduled locally by your phone and may be delayed or suppressed by its settings.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

PurrCal is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Countdowns depend on the date, time and time zone of your device. PurrCal is a companion, not a substitute for an official calendar or reminder system for anything critical.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maneko AI LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use PurrCal. Our total liability for any claim relating to PurrCal is limited to the amount you paid us for PurrCal in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of your country of residence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If a change is material, we will point it out in the app or on the website. Continuing to use PurrCal after a change means you accept the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Taipei, Taiwan. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence are not affected.
